Cardinal Zenari: Pope hopes that peace will prevail in Syria

Apostolic Nuncio to Syria Cardinal Mario Zenari has affirmed that Pope Francis appreciates and respects the Syrian people, hoping that peace and security would prevail in Syria, the cradle of the heavenly religions.
During a visit to Aleppo on Friday, January 20, Cardinal Zenar said that the visit aims at participating in the atmospheres of joy after defeating terrorism in Aleppo city, at offering assistance to the families, and at performing prayers to protect Syria and its people.
He added that Syria has an important location and a special status in the heart and mind of Pope Francis, pointing out to the necessity of cooperation with the Syrian leadership and people to deepen the culture of life, amity and tolerance as well as to consolidating coexistence in this country.
Zenari affirmed that Syria will achieve triumph over terrorism.
